For marketers, founders and research teams

Market research in India.
Start with population data.

Start with a population or household baseline, identify the eligible buyers, then connect the evidence to the market you can serve.

A reproducible market-sizing worksheet.

Select a state, a major city or your own verified baseline. Change the eligibility, adoption, spending and service-area assumptions to explore a scenario.

Three practical research starting points

Choose the buying unit first

A large population is a starting point. It is not evidence that every resident buys a category, can afford an offer or can be reached through a particular distribution network. Define the unit that makes the purchase: a person, a household, a visitor, an establishment or a farm holding.

Our calculator is a scenario worksheet. Official figures supply the labelled geographic baseline; the market assumptions remain visible, editable and separate from the source data.

Match the source to the business question

Consumer productsPeople or households in a defined geographyCensus / projections + HCESCheck category spending and buyers; total consumption is not a category budget.

Keep a short evidence trail

  1. Write down the geography, reference date and population concept.
  2. Select the relevant age, household or business segment.
  3. Document the spending period and whether the measure is consumption, income or a category-specific budget.
  4. Separate the whole scenario market, the serviceable share and an assumed obtainable share.
  5. Test a lower and higher case, and retain the source notes in the exported worksheet.
