Census 2027: follow the official programme.
The timetable is not identical everywhere. Read the latest notified reference dates and area-specific programmes, distinguish collection from results, and see how PopulationIndia will cover published releases.

| Notified area | Reference moment · IST |
|---|---|
| Most of India, excluding the notified early-enumeration areas | 2027-03-01 · 00:00 IST |
| Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and non-snow-bound areas of Uttarakhand | 2027-01-05 · 00:00 IST |
| Ladakh and designated snow-bound non-synchronous areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand | 2026-10-01 · 00:00 IST |
Use the precise area lists. Snow-bound exceptions do not apply to an entire state merely because some of it is covered.
A collection topic is not yet a published dataset.
The notified population questionnaire includes caste and digital literacy. That establishes collection subjects, not a promised public tabulation format or release date. PopulationIndia will import only published aggregate tables and their definitions, preserving missing and not-stated categories.
Participation should take place through official census channels. This site does not request household responses, identity numbers or personal census details.
When will new population results appear here?
After an official release is verified and its codes, boundaries, definitions and source tables are checked. A notification, questionnaire or announced reference moment is not a population result. The notice log retains its own source-review date.
