Uttar Pradesh is India’s most populated state it is located in Northern India. The word Uttar Pradesh literally means ‘Northern Province’. Hindi is the most widely used language in Uttar Pradesh. The capital of Uttar Pradesh is Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh is the second largest state in India, in terms of size of economy. Uttar Pradesh, in terms of sheer area size is huge, as its area is equivalent to three times the size of Portugal or half the size of France

As per the census carried out by the government of India in 2011, the population totals of Uttar Pradesh are mentioned below:

Total Population:
The population of Uttar Pradesh as per the 2011 census is 19,95,81,477 compared to 16,61,97,921 in the 2001 census. In this decade the state of Uttar Pradesh has registered a growth of 20.09% in total population. Uttar Pradesh accounts for 16.49% of the total population of India. It is India’s most populous state.

Sex Ratio:
There are a total of 10,45,96,415 males and 9,49,85,062 females in Uttar Pradesh. As per the 2011 census, the sex ratio in Uttar Pradesh stands at 908 compared to 898 in the 2001 census. As mentioned in the table below, the Child sex ratio for the state has dipped significantly compared to 2001.

Total Child Population:
The total child population (0-6 years) in Uttar Pradesh in 2011 is 2,97,28,235 compared to 3,16,24,628 in 2001. This is an indication that the population growth rate of the state may stabilize in the next decade.

Urban & Rural Population:
Majority of the people of Uttar Pradesh live in rural areas. The rural population makes up 77.72% whereas the urban population makes up 22.28% of the total population. The total rural & urban population as per the 2011 census is 15,51,11,022 & 4,44,70,455 respectively.

Population Density:
The total area of Uttar Pradesh is 2,40,928 Km2. The population density is calculated at 2,146 persons per Km2, which is extremely very high when compared to the national average of 382 per Km2. It is to be observed that UP is a large state and about 75% of its population lives in villages.

Literacy Rate:
As per the census study of 2011, Uttar Pradesh has a literacy rate of 69.72%. The male literacy is 79.24% where as the female literacy is 59.26% only.

Goa is India's smallest state by area and fourth smallest by population.This tiny state, a tourist destination which lies in the west coase of India. Goa is renowned for its beaches, places of worship, world Heritage architecture.

Altho Goa was annexed in 1961 it attained statehood on 27th May, 1987 prior to this it was a union territory. With the rule of the Portuguese for over 450 years and the consequential influence of Portuguese culture. Goa presents a somewhat different picture to the foreign visitor than other parts of the country.

Goa is India's richest state with a GDP per capita two and a half times that of the country as a whole. Tourism is Goa's primary industry: it handles 12% of all foreign tourist arrivals in India. Goa has two main tourist seasons: winter and summer. In the winter time, tourists from abroad (mainly Europe) come to Goa to enjoy the climate. In the summer time (which, in Goa, is the rainy season), tourists from across India come to spend the holidays.

Tourism is generally focused on the coastal areas of Goa, with decreased tourist activity inland. The land away from the coast is rich in minerals and ores and mining forms the second largest industry. Lot of the mine produce is exported form the Marmagao Port, Goa accounted for over 39% of India's Iron Ore exports.

Agriculture and fishing offer part-time employment to a sizable portion of the populace. Rice is the main agricultural crop, followed by areca, cashew and coconut, though recent official figures indicate a decline of the importance of these sectors and also a fall in production.

As per the census results declared on 1st march 2011, Goa's population comprises of 14,57,723 individuals. Its share in total population of the country is 0.12%. In 2001 Goa's population was 13,47,668. Goa has registered an increase of 1,10,055 persons or 8.17% in this decade.

The density of population works out to 394 people per sq km.Goa's density of population has risen by 30 as compared to 2001 density which was at 364 induviduals per sq km. The density of population of North Goa is higher than that of South Goa. North Goa has a density of population of 471 where as south has 326.

Of the total population of 14,57,723 in the state 7,40,711 ( 50.81 % ) are males and the remaining ( 49.19% ) 7,17,012 are females in 2011. Thus the sex ratio of Goa works out 968. The state overall declared a literacy rate of 87.40%. The literacy rate among males in Goa is 92.81% and females is 81.84%.

Panaji is the state's capital, while Vasco da Gama is the largest city. The historic city of Margao still exhibits the cultural influence of the Portuguese, who first landed in the early 16th century as merchants and conquered it soon thereafter.

Goa is also notable for its low beer, and now a days for low fuel prices, wine and spirits prices due to its very low excise duty on alcohol. Another source of cash inflow into the state comes from many of its citizens who work abroad and remit money to their families.

With these changing trends, medium scale industries include the manufacturing of pesticides, fertilisers, tyres,  footwear, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fruits and fish canning, cashew nuts, textiles, brewery products etc. are developing. Goa at this stage is seeing many of its local people leaving abroad or to bigger cities like Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore in search of better jobs and work opportunities while on the other side immigrants from other states come to Goa in search for work in its flourishing tourism industry.

Population of Nagaland 2011 census

Nagaland is located in the north eastern part of India. The state was formed in the year 1963.The capital of the state of Nagaland is Kohima, whereas Dimapur is its largest city. It is one of the smallest and the least populated states in the country. English is the official language in Nagaland. The people residing in Nagaland are known as Nagas. The population of Nagaland as per the 2011 census is 1,978,502 compared to 1,990,036 in the 2001 census. In this decade the population in the state of Nagaland has declined by 0.58 %. Nagaland accounts for 0.16% of the total population of India.

Sex Ratio:
There are a total of 1,024,649 males and 953,853 females in Nagaland. As per the 2011 census, the sex ratio in Nagaland stands at 931 compared to 909 in the 2001 census. As mentioned in the table below, the Child sex ratio has increased slightly as compared to 2001.

Total Child Population:
The total child population (0-6 years) in Nagaland in 2011 is 291,071 compared to 289,678 in 2001. This has been a slight increase in child population when compared to the child population in 2001.

Urban & Rural Population:
Close to three fourth of the population of Nagaland resides in rural areas. The rural population makes up 71.14% whereas the urban population makes up 28.86% of the total population. The total rural & urban population as per the 2011 census is 1,407,536 & 570,966 respectively. The urban population has increased by a whopping 66.57% whereas the rural population has declined by 14.55 % over the last decade.

Population Density:
The total area of Nagaland is 16,579 Km2. As per the 2011 census, population density is calculated at 119 persons per Km2, which is very low when compared to the national average of 382 per Km2. As per the 2001 census population density was calculated at 120 persons per Km2 which shows that the population density is almost same when compared to 2001.

Literacy Rate:
As per the census study of 2011, Nagaland has a literacy rate of 79.55%. The male literacy is 82.75% whereas the female literacy is 70.01%. There is a notable improvement in literacy rate as compared to 2001 when the literacy rate in Nagaland was 66.59%.
