Assam is a state in the north-eastern part of India. Dispur is the capital city of Assam. The state shares international borders with Bhutan and Bangladesh. As per the census of 2011, Assam has a literacy rate of 73.18%. The male literacy is 78.81% and the female literacy is 67.27%. There is a significant improvement in literacy rate as compared to 2001 when the literacy rate in Assam was 63.25 %.
