Population of Tripura 2011 census results

As per the census carried out in 2011, The population of Tripura is 3,671,032 this estimate is shows that the population of Tripura has increased by 14.75% in the decade gone by. Back in 2001 the population was estimated at 3,199,203 and the population density at 305.

Tripura’s Population is summed up of 1,871,867 males and 1,77,165 females this makes the sex ratio of the state at 961 females per thousand males. This is slightly better than 2001′s figure of 948.

The Literacy rate of the state has shown significant improvement, it is now estimated at 87.75%. The significant milestone reached in 2011 Census in the State is decline of
illiterates from 740658 in 2001 to 395235 in 2011.Ten States and Union Territories, including Kerala, Lakshadweep, Mizoram, Tripura, Goa, Daman and Diu, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have attained literacy rate of above 85 percent.

The Density of population of Tripura in 2011 is at 350 persons per square kilometer.

The total number of children in the age-group 0-6 in Tripura is 444055. The proportion of child population in the age group of 0-6 years to total
population in Tripura is 12.10 percent while the corresponding figure in
2001 was 13.64 percent. The decline has been to the extent of 1.54 percent.

Among the 4 Districts of the State, highest growth rate in population has
noticed in Dhalai District (22.78%) and lowest in West Tripura District
(12.50%).

The state of Tripura is the third smallest state in India in terms of size. Tripura is surrounded by Bangladesh on the north, south, and west. The Indian states of Assam and Mizoram lie to the east. The capital is Agartala. Tripura has a tropical climate and receives rainfall during the monsoons. Altitudes varying from 15 to 940 m above sea level, though the majority of the population lives in the plains. Tripura has many rivers including the Manu River which originates here.

The landlocked state of Tripura has become significantly important as geo tourism and eco tourism industries have developed quite significantly in India.
